Zinc is most effective when taken fasting, approximately 45 minutes before or 2 hours after a meal. It can be used before athletic activity if at least 2 hours have passed since your last meal. Zinc absorption may be reduced by phytates, fiber, iron, coffee, or alcohol.
However, if you experience nausea or stomach pain after taking zinc, we recommend taking it between meals or after a meal.
